So, I think you're right in the fact that they need to combine forces but not with a wounded Pac-12 but with an entirely healthy ACC that also still, at this moment, is aligned with Notre Dame. They're gonna challenge that to try to take your best football programs out of your conference and add them into what they're dreaming of. "They've got Fox and ESPN money behind this. I don't care what your (media) contract is," Fitzgerald said recently during a radio interview. The other four conference games would be split with two coming from each other pod to end with a nine-game conference slate. This news comes on the heels of USC and UCLA leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten by 2024 and last summer's bombshell seizure of Texas and Oklahoma by the SEC.ĮSPN's Bill Connelly mentioned this week scheduling for a possible 18-team league would be rather simple - there would be six centrally-located teams, six in the West and six in the East that could all play five opponents from their respective pod.
